Head of Legal

32-40 hours per week, initially for 1 year, based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands

Triple Jump targets financial sector development and invests in institutions and funds that service the bottom of the pyramid. Triple Jump offers professional fund management services to investors, ranging from asset selection, to portfolio management to fund administration. Thanks to mandates from multiple investors Triple Jump can provide services to financial intermediaries in all stages of their development. Triple Jump investees include financial institutions (ranging from NGOs receiving their first funding, all the way to regulated banks) and investment funds, in developing countries.

Expectations

As Head of Legal you will be responsible for all the legal aspects of our investment process.  Accordingly, you will provide legal advice on and negotiate various private equity, fund and debt transactions, cooperating closely with our commercial teams and support functions.  You will provide in support setting up new investment and governance structures and supervise external counsels TJ employs. You will manage the current legal team (6 FTE) and coach other team members. We expect you have profound knowledge of the legal and regulatory environment TJ operates in. You will report directly to the Director Fund Services and act as a sparring partner for the Executive Board.

The position requires limited travel to countries where Triple Jump is active. The position is initially for 1 year and based in Amsterdam. If successful, the candidate will be offered a permanent position. Candidates must possess a valid working permit for the European Union.

Job Requirements

  • A master of laws degree, preferably in Dutch or UK law
  • > 7 years of relevant legal transaction related experience in private equity or fund of funds documentation;
  • Detailed knowledge of contract law and financial law, preferably through working at an international law firm or financial institution;
  • Capable of independent decision-making, ability to assess and balance legal risk with business interests;
  • Management experience;
  • Good negotiation skills;
  • Culturally sensitive;
  • Affinity with Triple Jump’s mission and vision;
  • Fluent in English, good knowledge of Spanish (or French) preferred.

Senior Product Manager New Investment Fund Initiative

Expectations / Description of Role

As Senior Product Manager New Investment Fund Initiative, you are responsible for the coordination of the development of a new fund proposition, which in essence is financing the development and implementation of clean & basic utility services and related infrastructure in Emerging Markets. You will take-over a project which has passed its feasibility phase and where the product development phase has been launched. You will lead a dedicated project team that is reporting to a project steering committee formed by Triple Jump directors. This implies being involved in all aspects of the set up of the fund, including finetuning of the strategy, structuring, building the pipeline and winning prospective investors in close cooperation with other members of the project team.

Job Requirements

  • University degree or similar, preferably in Engineering, Finance, Economics or related fields;
  • > 5 years of relevant investment experience;
  • Demonstrable track record in private equity or project finance (direct or Fund of Fund with the intermediary funds investing in clean energy) preferred;
  • Strong project management skills
  • Product management skills preferred
  • Thorough understanding of renewable energy businesses and project/asset finance structures preferred
  • Additional work experience in management consulting or the financial sector preferred;
  • Demonstrated capability to establish new structures and work independently as part of a small, dedicated project team;
  • Experience in fund raising is a plus;
  • Work experience in development countries a plus;
  • Existing network of partners relevant to the fulfilment of the position a plus;
  • Willingness to travel for Market Development Purposes;
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills;
  • Fluent in English, knowledge of Dutch, French and/or Spanish a plus.

Head Finance & Control

Role

As Head Finance & Control you will be the prime responsible for the financial and administrative organisation within Triple Jump. All funds and mandates under management are in scope, as well as the company financials. Your focus will be on managing a team of 7 financial experts, involved in the day-to-day transaction management, administration, portfolio valuation and fund reporting. You will be the first point of contact for the external accountant regarding audit and business process control. In addition, the job entails close cooperation with amongst others the Investment Team, Portfolio Management, the Legal Team and IT.

Responsibilities

  • Leading the finance team of 7 financial experts involved with transaction execution & administration, cash management & treasury, accounting
  • Managing financial administration and reporting of investment mandates and funds;
  • Oversight of financial administration, reporting and budgeting of the management company;
  • Optimizing business processes; increase efficiency and fully deploy system usage;
  • Documenting and auditing of business processes, coordination of ISAE-3402;
  • Member of the Triple Jump Valuation Committee;
  • Regulatory reporting to DNB;
  • Involved in several team and company projects supporting product development/ company growth.

Job requirements

  • University degree in Finance, Economics or related fields, chartered accountant degree preferred;
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a finance manager/administrator in the asset management industry, preferable under AIFMD regulation;
  • Solid managerial experience;
  • Knowledge of treasury and FX derivatives;
  • A thorough understanding service organization control reporting (ISAE 3402);
  • Fluent in English – knowledge of Dutch preferred.

Investment Officer Africa & Middle East (English & French speaking)

Full time, Duty station: Nairobi, Kenya

Triple Jump is a socially responsible investment management and advisory company with its head office in Amsterdam, the Netherlands and regional offices in Georgia, Peru, Mexico, Kenya, and Thailand. Triple Jump manages and administers investment funds that focus on improving access to finance for entrepreneurs in developing countries. The funds we manage reach out to in excess of 442,000 micro, small and medium enterprises in 60+ low and middle income countries.

Expectations

As an Investment Officer you are responsible for the identification, appraisal, processing and supervision of loans to financial institutions in Africa. You ideally have an extensive regional network of partners and other people/institutions relevant to the fulfillment of your position. The position requires frequent travel to countries within the region. You will be based in Nairobi, Kenya. The position is initially for 1 year. If successful, the candidate will be offered a contract beyond the initial 1 year.

 

Job requirements

This position requires a strong finance background, acquired through studies in a relevant field and at least three years of relevant work experience at a fund manager, MFI or other financial institution. You have experience with analysing financial statements and dealing with legal and organisational issues as part of the due diligence process. You have demonstrable communication skills and are able to disseminate knowledge and mediate between different views. Your negotiation skills are excellent and, above all, you are capable of representing the funds we manage. You feel comfortable working in a team while independently developing new and managing existing markets. You are fluent in English and French (both speaking and writing) and ideally have work experience in developing countries.
