Triple Jump Attends Conferences Around the Globe
Outside of Triple Jump’s core business functions, colleagues across several regions were involved in a number of instrumental conferences. The Asia Pacific team had representation at the inaugural Asia Pacific Inclusive Finance Summit in the Philippines. The conference itself focused predominantly on the digital era emphasizing the role it can play as part of broader Financial Inclusion. The team also attended the Inclusive Finance Indian Summit in December (New Delhi, India); a global platform for deliberating on issues related to financial inclusion, financial education and financial stability with the aim to work and build towards an inclusive 2020.
At the Sanabel Conference in Egypt, Triple Jump took the opportunity to explore ways in which it can expand its portfolio across the Middle East. Jarri Jung, Triple Jump’s Investment Officer based in Nairobi, represented Triple Jump. The conference focused on key developments for the region, focusing further on innovation flow surrounding Financial Service Providers and their attempts to diversify products and services, an interesting dynamic currently being discussed across the wider impact investing spectrum.
The Europe and Central Asia team, in conjunction with Triple Jump Management and Investor Relations, attended the MFC annual conference in Prague, Czech Republic in November 2015. The conference focused on employment, youth and investment presenting an excellent opportunity to meet with multiple MFIs and partners alike. Berlin was host to The Women’s World Banking, Making Finance Work for Women Summit in November. The conference was attended by Investor Relations and Triple Jump’s Social Performance & Impact Manager. The summit focused on providing women with access to financial services and how this relates not only to women’s economic opportunity, but also broader macroeconomic growth. It brought together financial institutions, investors, philanthropists, policymakers and other private sector players. During the summit, Triple Jump learned more about the active involvement mainstream institutional players are having towards empowering women, with some particularly insightful words from Debra Mallowah, the Vice President of Unilever Africa.
Also in November 2015, the European Microfinance Week (EMW) was held in Luxembourg with over 450 attendees. The focus of the week was on financial inclusion for sustainable development. During EMW, Triple Jump was represented in discussions with other MIVs and DFIs. Furthermore, support was given to one of Triple Jump’s equity investees, ACAD Palestine, which was nominated for the annual Microfinance Award.
