As a Technical Assistance Manager for the Energy Entrepreneurs Growth Fund at Triple Jump, Kevin Barasa Wafula has a wealth of experience in the energy access field. Starting as a co-founder of Wake Energy in 2013, providing solar lighting solutions, he later joined EED Advisory in 2015 where he led and assisted in various projects promoting access to modern energy, including coordinating a €2-million EU project promoting solar PV-based energy solutions in Kenya, managing an initiative to develop a US$5-million energy sector plan for Turkana county, and supervising a national household energy survey supported by the World Bank. From 2019 at Mercy Corps Energy 4 Impact, as Program Manager, he provided advisory services to mSME clients aiming to unlock clean energy access in sub-Saharan Africa, through various programs including Innovate UK Energy Catalyst, Powering Opportunities Partnership and Powering Renewable Energy Opportunities. He also conducted market research, mapping, and interviewing energy government officials, manufacturers, distributors, financiers, and beneficiaries of energy products across sub-Saharan Africa. He has designed a result-based financing scheme for solar home systems, improved cookstoves, mini-grids, and agri-business energy solutions in Eastern DRC. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Nairobi. Kevin is a Kenyan national and speaks English and Swahili.
